Matinee on 30 April 2017 at 11:00h in the FreiRaum

The Novus String Quartet will perform at the Movimentos Festival on 30 April. A wide tonal range and a keen sense of balance, precision and elegance are the hallmarks of their playing. The four musicians present Schubert and Shostakovich at a matinee performance.

THE QUARTET

The four young string players met in 2007 as students at the Korea National University of Arts in Seoul. Just one year later the quartet came third in the International Chamber Music Competition & Festa in Osaka, Japan. After successfully taking part in further competitions in Europe, the Novus String Quartet won First Prize at the International Mozart Competition in Salzburg with jury chair Lukas Hagen praising the quartet's "enthralling music-making". The members of the ensemble are currently studying under Christoph Poppen and Hariolf Schlichtig at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich, which they have been attending since 2011.

The Novus String Quartet has performed in South Korea, Europe and the US, including at the Haydn Music Festival, the Chamber Music Hall of the Berliner Philharmonie, and New York's Carnegie Hall.
